About Our Beneficiary

This year, a portion of Ruck Cancer proceeds will support Camp Kesem at Syracuse University.

Kesem at Syracuse University was founded in 2012. Through their Camp Kesem program, they have served 576 children ages 6-18 who have been affected by a parent’s cancer diagnosis. This week-long overnight summer camp is offered at no-cost to the families it serves, providing fun-filled activities and a supportive community to help kids navigate anxiety, isolation, and uncertainty — reminding them they are never alone. Kesem at Syracuse University is led by a team of 60 volunteer college student leaders who spend the school year fundraising, planning, and executing chapter programming. For 2026, their goal is to serve 75 children at Camp Kesem at Syracuse University.

Kesem is a non-profit committed to creating a world where every child who has a parent with a cancer diagnosis or has lost a parent to cancer is never alone. Their mission statement is to support children through and beyond their parent’s cancer with free, creative programs and a lasting community.

About Ruck Cancer

“Ruck Cancer” is an annual rugby 10’s tournament hosted by the Uticuse Rugby Club. The purpose of this event is to raise funds for local charities and organizations dedicated to helping persons affected by cancer. Over the years, thanks to generous sponsors and passionate participants, Ruck Cancer has raised over $45,000 to support local charities and individuals facing the challenges of cancer.

General Tournament Information

Team Registration is Currently: Open to 2 more Womxn’s teams:
Feb 1st – March 20th: Early Bird Registration $400 per team
March 21st – May 1st: Regular Registration $450 per team
May 2nd – June 5th: Late Registration $500 per team

This year the tournament is capped at 8 womxn’s+ teams and 6 men’s teams due to space and time constraints. We are also accepting individual players to join our womxn’s Motley team to round out 6 teams, $25.00 per player.

Team payments are requested by 05/31/2026. Any last-minute team or individual payments on the day of the tournament must be made in cash or venmo. Email us at uticuserugby@gmail.com for all questions or more information!

Calle Tropical and Exhale Cafe & Bake Shop food trucks will be available at the field throughout the day to purchase food and beverages. Please be aware of space blocked off for food trucks on Rowland St. when parking in the morning.

Raffle Information:

There will be tickets for sale at the main hub tent for $3.00 ea., 2 for $5.00, or $20.00 for an arm length. The tickets can be used for the following raffles and gift baskets:

- Ticket package from Syracuse Mets

- 50/50 Raffle to be drawn at 2:30pm

Tournament Social:

The Tournament will be followed by a Social hosted by the Uticuse Rugby Club at the fields directly following the tournament. All teams are invited to join us after the tournament. Food from Pies Guys Pub & Grub and drinks will be provided after the final games in the main merch tent.
