Born in 2008 from the merging of the Syracuse Harlots and Utica Hellbenders, Uticuse Rugby Club has a rich history of supporting the growth of Womxn’s Rugby in Central New York. Since 2023, Uticuse has been a member of the Midwest Rugby Union, playing in the Western New York D2 Women’s+ Division.

Uticuse endeavors to push their competitive edge while keeping the high spirits of their beer-league roots. The team pushes hard to ‘win’ all aspects of each match, on the pitch and at the social. With a positive mindset, strong sense of sportsmanship, willingness to try new strategy, and excitement to guide anyone with an interest in the sport, Uticuse strives to embody the #WithYou attitude that Rugby is known for. Every win we take home is a team effort, and for a self-proclaimed bunch of Silly Gooses, we sure do win a lot.

Uticuse makes every effort to be an active member of the community and to give back. Outside of participating in local events and parades, the team hosts a yearly 10’s style rugby benefit tournament, Ruck Cancer. What started as a desire to provide relief to a founding member battling cancer has grown into the fundraising powerhouse, Ruck Cancer, with the mission to support individuals, families, and local nonprofits dedicated to helping persons affected by cancer. Uticuse is a member of CNY Rugby, Inc., an organization that oversees and promotes the youth, high school, womxn’s, and men’s rugby team in Syracuse, NY.
